Kurfürstendamm (Ku'damm)

A 3.5 km boulevard that begins at a bombed-out church and ends at Cold War Cadillacs cast in concrete.

The Ku'damm runs from the ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Breitscheidplatz southwest to Grunewald, threading past a pre-WWI artists' café, a theatre built on a Berlin Secession exhibition hall, and four continuous lines of plane trees. The western terminus drops a genuinely strange sculpture on you with no warning.

What to look for

Start at U-Bahn Kurfürstendamm (Joachimstaler Str. exit) and walk the full 3.5 km southwest to Rathenauplatz to catch the sculpture before turning back.
