Fourteen original Art Deco buildings between Fifth and Sixth Avenue, split by a large sunken square and a private street, Rockefeller Plaza. The complex is noted for the art filling almost every building, an expansive underground concourse linking them, and an ice-skating rink. Named a New York City landmark in 1985 and a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

What to look for

Runs between 48th and 51st Streets from Fifth to Sixth Avenue; come in winter for the annual Christmas tree lighting and the rink.
