In February 2015, around 1,000 people stood hand-in-hand outside on a winter Shabbat — the event was initiated by young Norwegian Muslims, drew Jews and others, and made international news as a ring of peace.

Norway's oldest Jewish congregation, founded in 1892, meets in a 1920 building an architectural historian compared to "a simple and charming country chapel." The address carries layered history: a 2006 shooting attack in which no one was hurt, and nine years later, an interfaith gesture on the same pavement that circled the globe.

Located in the St. Hanshaugen district; it is an active Orthodox congregation, so confirm public access before visiting.
