Gröna Lund

Sweden's oldest amusement park has been packing seven roller coasters and live concerts onto a 3.8-hectare waterfront lot since 1883.

Founded by Jacob Schultheis in 1883, Gröna Lund is the first amusement park in Sweden, pressed against the seaward edge of Djurgården. Its small footprint forces everything — rides, funhouse, tunnel of love, and three concert stages — into tight quarters, which gives it a density no sprawling theme park can match. ABBA played the stages in 1973; Bob Marley in 1980.

What to look for

Summer is the main season for both rides and concerts; check the live-event schedule before you go, as big shows sell out the grounds.
