The night this stadium opened, a 16-year-old Lionel Messi made his debut for Barcelona — Porto won anyway, 2–0.

Designed by Manuel Salgado and built for €125 million, the Dragon Stadium opened in November 2003 to host UEFA Euro 2004 and has since hosted the 2021 Champions League Final. Third-largest football stadium in Portugal at 50,033 seats, it replaced the old Estádio das Antas and remains FC Porto's home ground — with a possible 2030 World Cup appearance ahead.
